Cellnex Telecom renews its support for the aid programmes of the Spanish and Italian Red Cross
-
- The company has a cooperation programme with non-governmental organisations, now in its sixth consecutive year
- The agreement with the Spanish Red Cross focuses on assistance programmes for refugees in Europe and people affected by the earthquakes in Italy
Barcelona, 5th December 2016. Cellnex Telecom is once again making its corporate donation this Christmas to the assistance programmes for refugees in Europe and people affected by the earthquakes in Italy currently developed by the Spanish and Italian Red Cross organisations. For the last six years, Cellnex has spent the budget earmarked for seasonal gifts on these donations to non-profit NGOs. In this way, the company is extending its cooperation to the most disadvantaged sectors of society.
On this occasion, Cellnex has considered it necessary to continue to support projects that facilitate reception and care for refugees coming to Europe from countries currently suffering armed conflict and those affected by the earthquakes in Italy.
Spanish Red Cross aid to refugees
The Spanish Red Cross works to foster the integration of asylum-seekers and refugees and their families by providing attention from the first reception stage right up to a phase of autonomy for individuals and families, covering all their basic needs and offering legal, counselling, translation and interpretation services and financial support.
The RC has assisted more than 18,000 asylum-seekers and refugees in 2015 and 2016 in Spain through various immigration and asylum-seeker programmes. Cellnex Telecom’s contribution will be used to support the integration and autonomy of persons seeking international protection, including attention to basic needs and training activities.
Aid to people affected by the earthquakes in Italy
Cellnex Telecom, which has a significant presence in Italy, with more than 7,700 sites operated through the companies Galata and TowerCo, is this year supporting programmes developed by the Italian Red Cross to channel aid to the people affected by the earthquakes in central Italy.
