Cellnex renews its collaboration with Sirti in Italy

 

Milan-Roma, March 9th 2016. – Cellnex Telecom – the European leader in telecommunications and broadcasting towers – has renewed its contract with SIRTI, a long-standing Italian company specialising in the design, implementation and maintenance of network infrastructures.

The agreement, lasting for one year and involving an automatic renewal clause, provides for the maintenance of the entire portfolio of Cellnex’s telecommunications towers in Italy, comprising more than 7,400 sites. This collaboration fosters and extends the long-standing relationship with Cellnex Italy (Galata). More than 1,500 engineers will be working on the SIRTI network of telecommunications towers throughout Italy.

“Through this agreement” stated Walter Spera and Gianluca Landolina, the CEOs of TowerCo and Galata, the companies comprising Cellnex Italy, “Cellnex acknowledges the professionalism, expertise and high quality of the services offered by SIRTI in the area of telecommunications infrastructure maintenance. It also confirms our group’s commitment to playing a leading role in the telecoms sector in Italy, promoting the creation of high-profile jobs while generating added value for the country through an ecosystem of industrial partners of excellence.”

Cellnex Telecom 

On 19 February Cellnex Telecom posted its results for FY 2015, the first it has closed following the segregation of Abertis Infraestructuras and the flotation of the company on 7 May 2015. The highlights were the increase in revenue to € 613 million and growth in recurring EBITDA to € 235 million. Net profit was € 48 million. 35% of Cellnex revenues are generated in Italy.

Since it acquired the portfolio of telecommunications towers from WIND in Italy in March 2015, Cellnex Telecom has become Europe’s leading independent operator of wireless communications infrastructure, with a total portfolio of 15,119 towers.  Cellnex operates in three business areas: Mobile telephony infrastructures; audiovisual broadcasting networks; security and emergency service networks and solutions for smart urban infrastructure and services management (smart cities and the “Internet of Things” (IoT)).
