Cellnex is the only TowerCo in the DJSI Europe index for the second year running
The company has consolidated its position in this benchmark ESG index at European and global level
It is the only telecommunications infrastructure operator present in any of the components of this index
In addition, the company has consolidated its position in the Top 4 European subsector of telecommunications companies
Barcelona, 9 January 2025. For the second year running, S&P Global has recognised Cellnex as one of the leading companies in the telecommunications sector in terms of sustainability, once again including it in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe (DJSI Europe), the benchmark index at European and global level, in which only four companies from the telecommunications sector have been included this year.
In this way, Cellnex consolidates its position as the only telecommunications infrastructure operator present in the index, not only at European level, but also globally. The company stands out in the environmental dimension for its policy and strategy in environmental management and climate change; in the economic and corporate governance dimension it especially underscores transparency and good governance aspects and its double materiality analysis; and in the social dimension it stands out for its labour practices and focus on human rights.
Vincent Cuvillier, Chief Strategy Officer of Cellnex underlined: “It is a great success for Cellnex to be among the four most sustainable companies in a sector as competitive as telecommunications. Sustainability is an intrinsic part of our strategy, and this recognition reflects the effort and commitment of our teams to integrate sustainable practices into our operations.”
This year, more than 13,000 companies were invited to participate in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). Over 3,500 companies responded to a questionnaire comprising more than a hundred questions on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. S&P analyses public and non-public data about companies to measure their performance.
Only the top 10% of the companies in each sector in this analysis are chosen to be part of the global index. The score of the S&P rating agency determines whether companies are included in this index.
In addition to the DJSI Europe, Cellnex is also part of the main international sustainability indices, including CDP, Sustainalytics, FTSE4Good and MSCI.
