Federico Protto is the new CEO of Cellnex Italy
He will also be at the head of the cluster comprising Italy, Switzerland and Austria
Milan – Barcelona, 6 March 2024. Cellnex Telecom has appointed Federico Protto as the new CEO of Cellnex Italy, replacing Luca Luciani, who has left the company. Protto, who will formally join Cellnex by the end of March, will report directly to Marco Patuano, Group CEO, and will be part of the Cellnex Telecom Executive Committee as the head of one of Cellnex’s five main markets in Europe and the cluster comprising Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
Federico Protto will join Cellnex Italy from the telecommunications infrastructure company Intred SpA, where he holds the position of General Manager. He previously worked at companies such as Retelit SpA and IRIDEOS SpA, as CEO and General Manager, and at T-Systems, first in Italy, as Head of the telecommunications business unit, and later in Germany, as Vice President of telecommunications services at international level. He also worked for Worldcom EMEA (currently integrated into Verizon) and Telecom Italia, as Head of technical services for the Milan area, at the start of his career.
Federico Protto is an Electronic Engineer, who graduated cum laude from the Politecnico di Milano, he holds an MBA from Bocconi University and also has a Master in information and communication technologies from the Politecnico di Milano. Prior to entering the labour market, he spent a year as a researcher in the electronic engineering department at the Politecnico di Milano.
