CDP recognises Cellnex for engaging suppliers in the fight to end climate change

  • Cellnex has been recognised by CDP as ‘Supplier Engagement Leader 2021’ for its action combating climate change and its efforts to measure and reduce environmental impact in its supply chain.

Barcelona, 15th February 2022.- CDP, a non-profit that runs a global disclosure system allowing investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their impact on the environment, has recognised Cellnex in the ‘Supplier Engagement Rating Leaderboard 2021’ for leadership in combating climate change.

The company’s commitment to sustainability and its efforts to measure and reduce climate risk in its supply chain made it a leader among the 518 companies which are ranked in the index, and one of only 16 Spanish companies to make the list.

In particular, the independent telecommunications infrastructure operator stood out for establishing objectives and actions to reduce atmospheric emissions, mitigate climate risks and promote development of low-carbon activity. The company provided these data as part of CDP’s Supply Chain questionnaire in 2021.

For Sergio Nuñez, Head of Purchasing at Cellnex Telecom, “this recognition is further proof that good practices in the environment and climate change are being effectively implemented and that our suppliers share a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are truly proud to be one of the companies leading the transition to a low-carbon economy. It is everyone’s job to combat climate change. We must realise that we are responsible for the future of humanity and the planet”.

Sonya Bhonsle, CDP’s Global Head of Value Chains and Regional Director of Corporations says, “Our data show that companies are now focused when it comes to assessing their indirect impacts and engaging with suppliers to reduce them. To scale the level of action to ensure a 1.5°C future, businesses must act urgently to cascade measures and manage environmental impacts throughout their supply chains. We congratulate the more than 400 companies that have earned a spot on CDP’s 2021 supplier engagement index. As a leader in supplier engagement, Cellnex is a pioneer in driving the transition to a sustainable zero-emission future“.

In addition to this distinction, in December it was announced that the telecom company formed part of the group of companies on CDP Climate Change’s “A List” for the third straight year.
