Success Case
TV-RING (2013 – 2016)
Latest Innovations
TV-RING is a European project that develops and tests applications and infrastructures that shape the future of Internet-based television. These tests are performed in three pilot studies in three European Union countries (Germany, Holland and Spain) designed to highlight the benefits of online television and to become a meeting point where industry and broadcasting organisations, and anyone interested in hybrid television, can share their thoughts and knowledge.
Each pilot is conceived as a living lab to test advance connected television scenarios based on HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV), platforms, also known as hybrid television, since they combine digital television contents and web contents, and next-generation access (NGA) networks. The experiences developed will bring together broadcasters, research organisations, service providers and application developers to create innovative user-orientated applications and functionalities for the television of the future.
The project also places the emphasis on user participation in the definition of the future of television.
Cellnex Telecom is collaborating in the whole project, and more particularly in the deployment andimplementation of the Spanish pilot study, and in which it provides the use of its own content delivery network.
